Atria Development Corporation: Building Communities, Shaping the Future

For over two decades, Atria Development Corporation has been transforming neighborhoods across Southern Ontario. What began as a family vision in 2000 has grown into a multi-generational, dynamic company led by Hans Jain, carrying forward the legacy of his father, Gyan Jain.

A legacy of innovation

Gyan Jain arrived in Canada in the 1960s with little more than his engineering skills and determination. He began investing in homes, renovating and renting them to families, and gradually expanded into small apartment buildings and redeveloping under-used industrial spaces. His children, including Hans, learned the business hands-on, gaining the knowledge and passion that would shape Atria’s future.

Hans and his brothers founded Atria Development Corporation in 2000, pioneering the concept of live/work condominiums. Their first project, the i-Zone lofts in Leslieville, helped transform a struggling industrial neighborhood into a thriving hub for the arts and creative industries – a signature example of Atria’s commitment to revitalizing communities.

Leadership that inspires growth

By 2007, Hans Jain became President, assembling a multidisciplinary team and creating a fully vertically integrated organization. Atria’s focus evolved to address modern housing needs, including quality rental apartments, commercial holdings, and industrial development land. With a strong emphasis on innovation and community impact, Atria continues to be one of Southern Ontario’s most respected development companies.

Upcoming projects that define tomorrow

Atria isn’t slowing down – its current projects reflect a continued dedication to thoughtful design and community building:

From downtown Toronto to Scarborough and beyond, the company’s developments reflect a thoughtful approach to urban living, designed for people, families, and businesses to flourish.
